The doctors

DR. HANNE BLINDEMAN (MD)
In 2016 I graduated as a doctor from the University of Ghent. The 2 years that followed I was a HAIO (GP in Training) in a group practice De Rotonde in Merelbeke.
I also completed ECG (electrocardiography) and spirometry (pulmonary function testing) training.
Appointed doctor with the police.

DR. CHARLOTTE GHYSELEN (MD)
After working in the Botermarkt community health center for 10 years, I am now taking the leap to a smaller practice. I would like to help build a practice here where we provide warm, accessible and integrated care.
I am part of the Ghent Perinatal Mental Health Network and during my starting period I also worked for Pas Op (now Violett, medical care for sex workers) for two years.
In addition to general medical care, I have a special interest in pregnancy follow-up, pediatrics, I enjoy minor surgery (stitches, excision of small lesions, removal of ingrown toenails) and I also place IUD's and contraceptive implants.
Since I also like to have some energy left for my three daughters, I will not be in practice every day.
Accepted doctor at the Police.

DR. THOMAS VANDEKERCKHOVE (MD)
I graduated from the University of Ghent in 2016.
After basic training, I worked for a year and a half in the general internal diseases department at the Johanniter Krankenhaus in Duisburg (under the direction of Dr. med. Tannhof). I ultimately chose general medicine and completed my training with Dr. Dirk Lauwerier in Gavere and with Dr. Thierry Dalewyn in Waregem. In addition, I worked for six months in the emergency department of the AZ Maria Middelares. In addition to general family medicine, I have a great interest in sports and preventive medicine. That is why I followed additional training to become a sports doctor.
Accepted doctor at the police.

DR. HADEWICH VANNESTE
(MD)
In recent years I have worked in various practices to immerse myself in the different ways of working as a GP, as well as to learn as much as possible.
For example, I worked for three years in Zelzate at Medicine for the People, I did various replacements in a number of Ghent community health centers and general practices, I carried out volunteer work at Médecins du Monde and I worked for several months as a doctor at Violett (medical care for sex workers).
I have now found my place in the Ekkergem general practice. I look forward to providing biopsychosocial integrated care with a key emphasis on preventive care.
You are welcome with any question (physical and psychological problems, preventive questions, STD screening, minor surgery...). I would like to discuss with you whether or not I am the right person to help you further.

DR. OLIVIER
LEUS
(MD)
I graduated from Ghent University in 2018 and after completing my GP training in Meulebeke, my partner and I moved to Rotterdam, the Netherlands. There, I have worked with great pleasure as a permanent GP in a multidisciplinary health centre for the past 4.5 years. Now I am starting as a GP in my hometown of Ghent with the same enthusiasm. I find it important to be approachable, to listen carefully to patients in the first place and to draw up a plan together.
By working intensively in Rotterdam with nurses, psychologists and physiotherapists, I took on the role of health director and was able to free up time for patients with complex and challenging health problems. In addition, I was part of the GP network of Erasmus University Rotterdam, which allowed me to stay up to date with the latest scientific research and also participate in various studies in practice. In recent years, I have focused in particular on preventive medicine and participated in several conferences on this subject. In addition, I have a specific interest in neurology, but you are most welcome to contact me for any problem.
