What exactly does a podiatrist do?
A podiatrist treats people with foot complaints and complaints caused by an abnormal foot position and/or an abnormal walking pattern. This usually involves pain in the feet, ankles, knees, hips or back. A podiatrist also provides preventive advice and treats abnormal toe positions and (serious) skin and nail conditions. Common activities of the podiatrist are;
- Measuring and manufacturing podological soles.
- Treating foot problems in children and adults.
- Treatment and advice for pain in the feet, knees, hips or back.
- Manufacture of orthoses for abnormal toe positions.
- Treating an ingrown nail.
- Remove recurring calluses and corns.
