In September I obtained my bachelor's degree in Nutrition and Dietetics. After this, I chose to further specialize in Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS), diabetes and nephrology. With this extensive knowledge, I am able to guide you in optimizing your diet and improving your overall health. I understand that each individual has unique needs and goals, which is why I take a personal and holistic approach. By working together, we will set achievable goals that are specifically tailored to your situation. This includes not only adjusting your diet, but also looking at other factors that can affect your health, such as lifestyle, exercise and mental health.

Together on the way to a balanced life!

Diabetes prevention and care program (“Voor- en zorgtraject diabetes:”):

I would like to provide more information about the diabetes prevention and care process. Diabetes is a common condition that affects blood sugar levels. A healthy diet plays an essential role in the treatment and management of diabetes.

The preliminary phase is intended for people diagnosed with type 2 diabetes who are not yet receiving treatment with insulin or other injections. The first point of contact is your GP. You are also entitled to extra guidance and financial benefits. For example, you are entitled to an annual allowance for 2 sessions of 30 minutes with me as a registered dietitian. A prescription from your GP is required for this. You pay the consultation costs to me and receive a certificate. You must submit this certificate to the health insurance company, which will reimburse the consultation except for the co-payment. If you are eligible for additional education, you are also entitled to a maximum of 4 education sessions per year with me as a recognized dietitian-diabetes educator. You do not have to pay anything for these sessions.

The care program is intended for people with type 2 diabetes who are treated with injectable diabetes medication. It can also be started when treatment with blood sugar lowering medication (pills) does not produce sufficient results and an injection is being considered. Every patient in the care process is entitled to 5 educational sessions of 30 minutes, as prescribed by the GP. In addition, you are entitled to an annual allowance for 2 sessions of 30 minutes with me as a registered dietitian.

Chronic renal insufficiency care program (“ Zorgtraject chronische nierinsufficiëntie”):

There is also a care program for chronic renal insufficiency. Chronic renal insufficiency is a condition in which the kidneys gradually lose their ability to filter waste products from the body and regulate the balance of fluid and minerals. Nutrition also plays a crucial role here. An appropriate diet can help slow the progression of the disease, reduce symptoms and improve the patient's well-being.

To be eligible for the care program, there are a number of conditions that you must meet. These conditions are divided into medical and other conditions. Your doctor can give you more information about this. As a patient, the care program offers several benefits. One of these benefits is the partial reimbursement of consultations with me on the prescription of your doctor. As a patient you only pay the co-payment. The number of education sessions you receive depends on the stage you are at.
